· Great Trethew Trekking retains ownership of the horse/pony and continues to care for the horse/pony and pay for its costs and use the horse/pony in the Riding School.
· The sharer may ride the horse/pony maximum of 40 minutes 2 times a week only one of these sessions to be jumping.
· Due to the volume of lessons/children at the weekends we do not reserve you your share pony/horse. You will be able to ride any of the ponies or horses on the yard instead.
· This scheme is intended for those of you thinking of privately loaning or purchasing your own horse/pony. Muck out if necessary, clean your tack and generally learn more about the day-to-day care and commitment required when having your own horse/pony. This is not a scheme for those who just want to ride.
· The Share horse/pony will be available for use 2 evenings per week.
· Weekends you will ride any pony/horse.
· You are responsible for your own health and safety when handling or riding the share horse/pony.
· Any illness or injury of the share horse/pony should be reported immediately to a member of staff.
· Sharers under the age of 14 will be accompanied at all times, catching in and turning out of horse/pony.
· Tack should be cleaned after each use and any repairs needed should be reported immediately to a member of staff.
·
· Share horses and ponies can only be ridden for a maximum of 45 minutes each day.
· Please remember if your share horse/pony is sweaty after riding please cool pony down correctly, and sponge down and brush off. If you are unsure consult with a member of staff.
· Hooves MUST be picked out before every ride.
· Droppings must be picked up immediately when riding in the sand school or on public paths to and from carpark and cottages.
· We are always happy to help with any questions or worries you may have, or even just a helping hand with a specific task.
1. No smoking is allowed anywhere on our premises.
2. Always ensure the yard has up-to-date information of:
a. Your telephone number.
b. Your home address
c. Primary and emergency number for use in case of an accident/emergency to yourself.
3. If you are hacking out on your own, (age and ability must be agreed at the stables and with parents) hacking out on your own always inform an adult of your general route and approximate time of return
4. If age 16 and over, when catching horses/ponies from fields off immediate site always inform an adult. If under 16 years of age, you must have a responsible adult with you.
5. Report any damage i.e, fencing etc. to yard staff.
6. Report any sickness or injury of the horse/pony to yard staff immediately.
7. Remember that all paddock fences at Great Trethew Trekking have electric wire – do not touch.
8. Make sure you are aware of Fire Precautions on the yard. Please take time to read the Fire Drill and note you may be asked to attend a practise Fire Drill.
9. Be aware the First Aid Box is located in the tack room. All staff have received First Aid training.
10. Never approach a horse or pony that does not belong to you or that you do not have on share.
11. Always follow any health/safety guidelines issued from the yard.
12. Sharers are not to allow any one else to ride their pony/horse.
13. Great Trethew Trekking tack and/or equipment must be returned to the tack room.
14. If you sustain an injury whilst at the yard please fill out the accident book.
15. Hard hats that conform to current safety standards must be worn when riding horses and ponies on the yard premises.
16. Hard hats that conform to current safety standards must be worn when lunging horses and ponies on the yard premises.
17. Body protectors must be worn when jumping.
18. Please be aware we here at Great Trethew Trekking is a ‘working premises’ so please be vigilant of farm machinery/hotel guests.
19. Sharers are not permitted in any of the storage areas.
20. Please respect other clients/liveries and staff at all times.
Supervised Sharing from 3 years
Each session is up to 2 hours
This scheme is for our non-horsey and beginner families. You and your child will learn all aspects of pony care and riding under the guidance of a member of staff and within a group situation. These sessions run 2 days a week and times are to be arranged.

Experienced Sharing
This scheme is for our families who have had previous equine/riding experience and therefore are comfortable to take care of their pony independently. These sessions will run on a Thursday and Friday between the hours of 12 noon and 6pm. With up to 3 hours on the premises at a time. You can join in with the supervised group sessions if any are on the yard at the time
