Woodland Hacks
Explore our beautiful 30 acres of woodlands and gardens on horseback! Our Woodland Hacks are available in two durations:
½ Hour: £35 - 45 Minutes: £45
All hacks are led by a qualified staff member, taking you through streams, woodlands, and gardens. Please note that our woodlands can be muddy in winter, but we continue to offer hacks year-round. Inexperienced riders will be accompanied by a staff member on foot and a side walker.
Booking Requirements: Please provide the height, weight, date of birth, and riding experience of each rider. Our maximum weight limit is 14 stone, as our largest horse is a 15hh cob. Hacks are available for adults and children aged 4 and up, catering to all abilities.
Riding Lessons
We offer tailored riding lessons for all abilities, from beginners to advanced riders. Our lesson options include:

Group Lessons (maximum of 3 people):
30 minutes: £32.00 45 minutes: £40
Due to our focus on trekking, we can accommodate riders up to a weight limit of 12 stone in our sand school. Weekend lessons are limited due to the Kids club activities.

Holiday Kid's Clubs
Throughout all school holidays, our kid's clubs are available for the majority of the week! Whether you want to join us for a one-off club day or attend every week, we welcome you to be part of our equestrian family.
What Your Child Will Experience
During their time with us, children will learn everything they need to know about caring for a pony. Our dedicated staff will assist them every step of the way, covering:
Grooming Mucking out Feeding Tack Cleaning
Bringing ponies in and out of the fields Tacking up ponies
General day-to-day care and stable management
We also encourage children to help lead ponies during lessons, which helps build their confidence and fosters friendships.
New Stable Management Sessions
We are excited to introduce new stable management sessions within our all-day program! Each month, we will focus on a specific topic, allowing children to earn rosettes and certificates through the ABRS as they complete their tasks.

Home Education Group
Home Education Group Sessions at Great Trethew Trekking
We are excited to announce our Home Education Group sessions, available during term time only! Living in the UK provides parents with a variety of educational opportunities, and homeschooling has become an increasingly popular choice. At Great Trethew Trekking, we understand the importance of physical education alongside academic learning, and we are proud to offer a program tailored for home-educated children.
What We Offer
Our home school rides are skill-based, ensuring that young people receive a structured and progressive riding education that goes beyond just riding lessons. In our sessions, your children will learn:

Special Educational Needs (SEN)
We are committed to inclusivity and cater to children with special educational needs (SEN). We offer both lead rein and non/off-lead rein options to ensure that every child can participate and enjoy their time with us.

Outdoor Assisted Therapy
Throughout history, the healing influence of horses has been recognised and honoured. Their innate ability to sense and respond to human emotions makes them remarkable companions in therapeutic work. Equine Facilitated Learning, now backed by scientific understanding, isn’t just a final option but a meaningful beginning for those seeking healing. It invites individuals burdened by life’s challenges to embark on a journey with these empathic creatures, where instinct and intuition converge to provide genuine support and aid in their healing process.
We offer Equine-Assisted Therapy sessions for individuals with disabilities and special educational needs. Working with horses can improve social, cognitive and physical skills, as well as being an enjoyable activity for all ages.
The centre is a place where people can be at one with nature whilst developing soft skills such as self-confidence, self-esteem, problem solving and exploring communication skills through interaction on the ground with ponies and the natural environment. 1 hour Session £45
Alternative Provision
Introducing Our Alternative Provision for 2024
We are excited to announce the launch of our Alternative Provision (AP) for young people who are currently unable to access education due to mental health challenges. Led by our dedicated Directors, Elizabeth Walke and Charlotte Fisher (who holds a BHS Teach Qualification), our AP offers a supportive and engaging educational experience tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
What is Alternative Provision?
Alternative Provision refers to educational settings outside of traditional schools, typically funded by local authorities. Our AP is designed to provide a unique and engaging learning environment for young people who may struggle in conventional educational settings.
Our Approach
At our AP, we prioritize the mental health and well-being of our students. We combine therapeutic support with education in a kind, encouraging, and non-pressured atmosphere. Our innovative approach utilizes equine-assisted sessions, where students engage in caring for horses and maintaining the land. This hands-on experience not only fosters practical skills but also builds confidence and emotional intelligence, empowering young people to achieve their personal goals.

Funding Information for Childcare Services
We are proud to be OFSTED registered, ensuring that we meet high standards of care and education. If you are eligible for Universal Credit, you may be able to claim back up to 85% of your childcare costs. This applies to children aged 8 years and above.
Eligibility Criteria
- **Employment Status**: You and your partner (if you live together) typically need to be working. The number of hours worked does not affect eligibility, and having a job offer is also sufficient.
Payment Options:
We accept various childcare voucher schemes, including:
- **The Childcare Grant Payment Service**
- **Tax-Free Childcare**: This digital service is the only method through which students can utilize their Childcare Grant to cover eligible childcare expenses.
Additionally, we are open to collaborating with employee experience platforms that enhance business engagement strategies.
